#MEAction’s Volunteer Program Revamped

Exciting news: #MEAction revamped our volunteer program for the new year! We are honored to have wonderful volunteers including people with ME, Long Covid, and other associated conditions as well as our caregivers, allies, and wider communities. Volunteering with #MEAction can and does make all the difference. We invite you to join our program!

Our new volunteer program allows you to be put into a working group that uses your skills. Currently, we are offering working groups that focus on the following areas:

  • Canary Corps
  • Facebook moderator (training is offered)
  • Fundraiser
  • Podcast liaison
  • Press outreach
  • Volunteer social hour (biweekly volunteer social hour group that helps you become an advocate for yourself and others.)

If you are interested in volunteering in any of these areas here is the process:
1. Fill out the Volunteer Application (12 simple questions)
2. Quick & informal interview with me – opportunity for you to share your skills and interests
3. Choose your working group (you can take your time to making a decision)
4.
Introduced to staff member & Invited to Volunteer Social Hour

Our volunteer program is designed to have separate working groups to ensure your skills are being put to good use. #MEAction fully understands the nature of ME and Long COVID, so our aim is to make our volunteer program accessible to everyone. We recognize and know that life happens. Nothing is permanent. While volunteering with us, it is completely fine to change groups or take a break from volunteering. When you’re ready to return, we will be here waiting for you with open arms. We also have videos for you to learn more about our activism philosophy and how that relates to volunteering.

On a personal note, March will mark one year since I was hired as the Activist and Volunteer Coordinator. It has been such a journey for me, personally and professionally. My favorite part of the job is seeing what our volunteers can do and accomplish. From hosting medical education events at Dartmouth to attending our Millions Missing event in D.C., I’m always amazed at our volunteers’ hard work and dedication. Though, as the Activist and Volunteer Coordinator, I may be a little biased 🙂. Still, I genuinely believe our volunteers keep the organization running, and without them, we would not be able to spread awareness to the masses

I’m not exaggerating when I say my position has changed my life. Being surrounded by the hardest working volunteers brightens up my everyday life. I hope I have a chance to welcome you to our growing volunteer family. Sign up for our new volunteer program today!

PS: To make sure we can better serve our community by continuing to engage with our volunteers and activists, #MEAction needs your financial support. Please make a donation today! This work is important and your support will help to make a difference!

  1. Thank you so much for posting this here on your website!
(easier for me to access this vs. some of the social media accounts – X/Twitter is pretty hard to access without an account now that Nitter is dead )

I will do my best to spread the word!
