As part of #DisabilityPrideMonth, The Century Foundation’s podcast Off-Kilter has been hosting a series of conversations featuring Disability Economic Justice Collaborative* members and other leaders from the disability community. #MEAction board member Ryan Prior is a guest on the two-part Off-Kilter ADA 2022 Special that dives “into the picture for the millions of Americans now living with Long COVID, the incredible patient advocacy led by COVID long-haulers across the country, and how patient advocates with other chronic illnesses like myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) are teaming up with COVID long-haulers to push for research, policy change, and more.”

Part 1: “The Long Haul”: Inside the Patient Advocacy Revolution of the COVID Era
Rebecca Vallas, senior fellow and co-director of DEJC, speaks with Lisa McCorkell, cofounder of the Patient Led Research Collaborative; Netia McCrery, education director at the COVID-19 Longhauler Advocacy Project; and Ryan Prior, a journalist, a board member of #MEAction and author of The Long Haul.

Part 2: “The Long Haul”: How Long COVID Fits Into Disability Policy
The conversation continues “to dig into the U.S. policy response thus far on long COVID, the urgent need for research, how long COVID fits into the larger conversation about disability and disability policy and more.” Ryan Prior of #MEAction is joined by Kim Knackstedt, a senior fellow at TCF, co-director of the Disability Economic Justice Collaborative, and who until recently served as director of disability policy at the White House.

*#MEAction is proud to be a member of The Disability Economic Justice Collaborative. This collaborative is a first-of-its-kind initiative that brings together two-dozen leading disability advocacy organizations, Washington, D.C.-based think tanks, and top research organizations. The collaborative is committed to breaking the persistent link between disability and poverty, and to finally achieving economic justice for disabled Americans more than three decades after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) became law.
