#MEAction CA—Article & Interview Published in Medical Board of CA’s Newsletter

#MEAction is excited to share that the Medical Board of California has released an article and an interview about Long COVID and ME in their most recent July Newsletter! Both the interview and the article are the result of years of advocacy outreach by #MEAction California, led by Art Mirin! We are very excited about this win!

Art Mirin (right), leader of #MEAction CA, discussing the burden of ME with Congressman, Eric Swalwell. Art has been advocating for ME for years.

The article, Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Long COVID: What Every Physician Needs to Know, was written by #MEAction California State Chapter Leader, Art Mirin, along with #MEAction Staff members, and special contribution from Jennifer Curtin, MD, from the Center for Complex Diseases in Mountain View, California. The article highlights that many individuals are suffering long after their diagnosis with COVID-19, provides an explanation of ME, and illustrates how cases of ME may nearly triple due to Long COVID. Additionally, the article describes how standard Graded Exercise programs can be harmful to ME patients and provides treatments to consider for Long-Haulers who might have ME.

The interview, The Uncertainty of Life with Long-Term COVID-19 Symptoms, features #MEAction activist, Jennifer Minhas. The interview, conducted by Medical Board of California staff, highlights Jennifer’s struggle with Long COVID and how it has affected her health, her career, and her frustrations with the medical community on treatment options.

With California representing nearly one-eighth of America’s population, getting an article and interview about ME published in the Medical Board of California’s newsletter has the potential of reaching millions of medical professionals. This is an amazing success and highlights the power of #MEAction’s State Chapters!
