Speak Up, Tweet Back, Write ME: Activist Messaging 101 in the Social Media Age

UPDATE: A recording of this community call can be found here.
Join us for our next activist teach-in with Jennifer Johnson Avril* on Sunday, August 13th at 1:00pm E.T. The call will run for 90 minutes.
Our storytelling is a powerful component of activism, whether we’re making a video, writing a press release or creating a social media campaign. Defining our stories, giving them a narrative arc and utilizing them for change is crucial for effective action.
We can be more effective when we define our stories and the stories of our action and utilize them to educate, inspire and act. In this session you will learn specific skills on how to:

· Make an online video
· Write a press release
· Make a social media kit
· Write an op-ed
· Write a letter to the editor
· Respond to interview questions
· Write and pitch an article for publication

In addition to Jennifer’s presentation, ME activists will share examples of successful media campaigns. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in lively discussion and share best practices.
