ME/CFS is going to be the topic for CDC’s monthly Grand Rounds this Tuesday at 1 pm ET. The title of the session is “Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: Advancing Research and Clinical Education.” The presenters will be Anthony Komaroff (Harvard Medical Center), Elizabeth Unger (Chief of CDC’s Chronic Viral Diseases Branch), Charles Lapp (Hunter-Hopkins Center, P.A.), and Avindra Nath (Chief of Section of Infections of the Nervous System at NINDS). Providers can get continuing education credits for watching the webcast or attending in person.
Avindra Nath’s presentation will likely be of particular interest to the community as it is about the new intramural research study at NIH on which he is the Principal Investigator. The NIH has not made an official announcement of the study yet and there are many open questions based on the incomplete protocol published over the weekend. NIH answered a few questions, including ones about patient selection and expert involvement, at a meeting with Courtney and Bob Miller on Tuesday.
